BANT provide a framework of support for its practitioners and guides them to follow best practice appropriate continuous professional development to ensure the safety of the public and the promotion of the best health outcomes for people they see.

This helps to generate public confidence and trust in the advice and support given by a qualified practitioner.

Who are BANT members?

Most are nutritional therapists who have completed a qualification that meet the National occupational standards (NOS) nutritional therapy and the NTC core curriculum. The National occupational standards are developed and updated by Skills for Health.

BANT fully supports and recommends that all nutrition professionals involved in providing advice to the public should come under the strictest regulations and actively encourages all members to register with the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

The CNHC is a national voluntary regulator of complementary healthcare practitioners and has been developed with support from government funding.

BANT members also agreed to abide by the BANT code of professional practice. This code is designed to ensure that members of the public receive a consistent, professional and safe experience visiting qualified nutritional therapist.
